HOW WE WORK

India is an incredible country. An immense culture of contrasts and contradictions, with a plethora of impressions and sensations. India is also known for its vast textile production and refining expertise, and our initial mission was to showcase a sustainable approach in a conventional production country.

In India, we work solely with 100% organic cotton, certified according to SA8000 and GOTS. This means that our organic cotton is a verified natural product, refined under high ethical and sustainable standards, from raw fibre to final garment.

The farmers we work with have extensive experience growing organic cotton, yielding a high quality that is actually higher than conventionally grown cotton. They use techniques that support healthy eco systems and biodiversity, including reducing the consumption of water.

ZERO WASTE

The textile industry is known for its excessive waste that adds up to millions of leftover cuttings. To help address this issue, we have set up a zero waste programme in India for all our cotton products.

Annually we re-use 2000 kilos of scrap from our cotton production. We take leftover fabric and cuttings from our own production, and use it to create small items like our tote bags and hang tags, as well as larger items such as our Raw Quilts and Raw Rugs.

We also try to help eliminate waste by recycling excess fabric produced by others. In fact, the cotton tote bag you get when you shop on our website is made from leftover fabric stock from other textile companies.

With profits from our zero waste products, we give donations to a local school for challenged children called TEARS, an acronym for Train, Educate And Rehabilitate Socially.
